Apples, Apples, Applesauce!

About 1/2 of our class loved the applesauce.  I told them I would share the recipe.  It is super easy and it will make your house smell amazing!  Ours was a little chunky because we didn't have enough time to cook it.  I suggested that if yours is chunky, too, you could put it on top of some vanilla ice cream. :)

Crock Pot Applesauce

10 large apples cut in small chunks
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 to 1 cup sugar

Put all ingredients into the crock pot.  It fills it about 3/4 full.  Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 3-4 hours.  I use a potato masher to break the apples down into a sauce consistency.
Enjoy!

Reminders

Hello all!  It was great meeting you.  I am SO ready to begin the year with your little learners.  Here are a few reminders that I really hope I covered when we met.

  • School starts at 7:55 a.m.  All K and 1st grade students should start their day on the SMALL playground on the corner of 14th and St. Paul Rd.  There will be adult supervision starting at 7:45, so if you are dropping your student off, please wait until that time.  Students can walk across the grass to get to the playground.  Please let me know via note in planner or a call to the office if there is a change to your child's after school routine.

  • School breakfast is FREE to all KINDERGARTEN students.  Here are the links to the breakfast and lunch menus which you can access on the district website.
  •  September Breakfast   September Lunch

  • We will have snack every day.  If you do not want to purchase snack cart, please send a healthy snack from home.  Water bottles are encouraged in our classroom as well.  I will provide snack the first day of Kindergarten, but snack cart does not start until Sept 17 so please send something daily until then if you have signed up.

  • Student binders will come home daily.  They include a planner and a folder.  The planner is a perfect place for notes and the folder is where students will bring home notes/work.  Please make sure binders come to school every day.
